Sample Fundraising Letter - Adoption (Using talents)
You know the adoption costs. You made the committment to adoption but are not financially sure you can cover the $20,000 you need to spend to finalize your adoption. Ready to ask for help. Start by looking to your own talents. What have others complimented you on? Market those abilities. This letter could be used for family and friends who could utilize your talents and support your adoption fundraising efforts.
Example Fundraising Letter
Believing in Psalm 68:6 “God sets the solitary in families”, We are overjoyed to announce our new daughter, Ainsley Regan Monroe, from China and Emily will finally become a Big Sister!
I know this will be a huge surprise to most of you, but certainly it is surprising to us more than anything, I assure you! We really felt that going to China again would be next to impossible because of the high costs of an international adoption. We also feel that the Lord is leading us once again to adopt and believe God is bigger than finances, so we are truly relying on faith that God will provide.
This adoption will cost in the neighborhood of $20,000. I know that sounds like a lot (and it is), but we will receive $10,000 back in the way of the Adoption Tax Credit and also another $2,000 reimbursement from the Navy – which is over half back. However, we will need to have the money up front, not to mention an additional $8,000 that we will not be able to re-coup from any other source.
Just as the Great Wall of China was constructed one stone at a time, we are relying on God for $1 at a time. We would be amiss if we didn’t also ask for help from families and friends who may be willing to donate to get us one step closer to China – no amount is too small! Our plan is to apply for as many grants as possible and pray that doors will open for the money to come through.
Please consider helping us bring our daughter home. If you are unable to send a monetary gift of any amount, perhaps you can help by donating air miles for our flight from Seattle to Los Angeles to help cut some of our travel costs (we need enough miles for 3 round trip tickets). We also need a laptop computer to stay in touch while we are in China for 2+ weeks.
